Why won't you do a criminal records check for me?
Due to staffing and liability considerations, we do not conduct records checks. You can call the Greenville County Records Division at 864-467-5278 or check the
Public Index Online.

Do I have an active warrant?
Greenville Municipal Court employees are not authorized to provide this information. You need to check with local law enforcement.

What do I do if I have an outstanding warrant on me?
You will need to go to the City of Greenville's Warrant Division in the Law Enforcement Center at 4 McGee Street, Greenville, SC 29601 and have the warrant served.

How can I get this warrant off my record?
If you were found not guilty or the case was dismissed or nolle prossed, the court date was on or after June 2, 2010 and it was in Greenville Municipal Court, we will automatically expunge it according to state statute.
If you were found not guilty or the case was dismissed or nolle prossed, the court date was on or before June 1, 2010 and it was in Greenville Municipal Court, you will need to submit a request and a completed Expungement Order.
If you were found guilty, but have not had any further convictions for 3 years, you can get more information from the
State Solicitor's Office.

Can I see my expunged file?
Once a record is expunged, all information about that record is destroyed (in the case of physical records) or deleted (in the case of digital records).

Greenville Municipal Court employees are not authorized to provide sealed/expunged records to the public. You must submit a completed

This isn't supposed to be on my criminal record. Why is it showing up?
Greenville Municipal Court employees can only review daily business processes for any irregularities. You should direct questions about identity theft or a known person using your personal information to law enforcement or you should seek advice and assistance from legal counsel.

Greenville Municipal Court employees can only review daily business processes for any irregularities. You should direct questions about identity theft or a known person using your personal information to law enforcement or you should seek advice and assistance from legal counsel.

Can I get my record expunged?
If you were taken to jail and found not guilty or the case(s) is dismissed or nolle prossed (the prosecutor chose not to prosecute the case), your case will be automatically expunged through Municipal Court.
If you were not taken to jail you were found not guilty or the case(s) is dismissed or nolle prossed, you are not eligible for expungement (even for cases prior to June 1, 2009). All other expungement inquiries should be addressed through the
State Solicitor's Office.
