A Half Century with Spinx
For 50 years, Spinx has been the place to pump gas and get your fill of pure fried-chicken goodness. The man behind the brand is founder and CEO Stewart Spinks. In December of 1972, at 26 years-old, Spinks quit his job at the Shell Station. Without telling his family, he opened a convenience store and fuel delivery business.
"That was my launching point. For about two weeks I put on my Shell uniform in the morning and did it that way. Then the check quit showing up in the mailbox. So I had to confess to my wife Martha," Spinks told us.
FROM HERE Spinx has expanded to 80 stores statewide and employs more than 1400 people. Spinks donates 10 percent of the company’s annual profits to community organizations.
