Fireworks on the Fourth at Unity Park In celebration of Independence Day, a long-standing tradition will be brought back to the City of Greenville - Fireworks on the Fourth! We invite the community to join us at Unity Park on Monday, July 4, from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. for a spectacular fireworks show. Come early, bring a blanket and picnic dinner, and enjoy a memorable evening as we honor our country. Fireworks will go off at 9:45 p.m.

City Offices Closed on Monday, July 4In honor of Independence Day, City of Greenville offices will be closed and Greenlink services will not run on Monday, July 4.
There will be no trash/recycling collection services on Monday, with pickups to begin on Tuesday. The collection schedule will run one day late for the remainder of the week.
The free trolley service to Fireworks on the Fourth at Unity Park will run from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. then resume from 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. Trolley service will pause between 9:00 - 10:00 p.m. as the route passes through the fallout zone.

Downtown Merchant Association: Next Meeting - Tuesday, August 16As a reminder, we will not have a July monthly meeting. However, we look forward to gathering together on Tuesday, August 16, at 4:00 p.m. at Swanson's Warehouse. Look for more information about the August meeting as the date approaches.

McDaniel Avenue Bridge Closure, Detours PlannedThe McDaniel Avenue bridge replacement project is set to begin next Wednesday, July 6. The South Carolina Department of Transportation bridge replacement project is set to take approximately six months to complete. The McDaniel Avenue bridge will be closed, and the section of McDaniel Avenue between the bridge and Cleveland Street will be open to local traffic only. All other traffic will be routed around the closure. View the McDaniel Bridge Closure map to see road detours and the Swamp Rabbit Trail closures and detours. During this time, the City of Greenville will also replace the sewer main located underneath the bridge to increase capacity for the south downtown area. 4-Pillar Approach to Addressing Homelessness in Greenville United Housing Connections (UHC)- a City of Greenville partner- is a 501c3 non-profit organization that connects people experiencing homelessness to safe, sustainable housing and support services. Lorain Crowl, CEO of United Housing Connections, and the UHC outreach team attended the June Downtown Merchant Association meeting to share updates on the impactful outreach and initiatives taking place in downtown Greenville to address homelessness.
UHC outlined the 4-Pillar Approach to Addressing Homelessness in Greenville which includes: Homeless Task Force Meetings, Outreach Programs, Panhandling Program and Day Shelter Program.
The virtual monthly Homeless Task Force meetings, held on the 2nd Monday of each month (via Zoom) is a great place for downtown merchants, service providers, City staff and Greenville Police Department representatives to join in an open forum. The meetings are designed to collaborate on solutions, voice concerns, address issues and provide education about current outreach initiatives. The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 11, at 8:30 a.m. We encourage and invite you to attend.

Swamp Rabbit Trail ReopenedThe section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail from Cancer Survivors Park to the Major Rudolph Anderson Memorial is open. The Furman College Way detour remains in place through October for County Square construction.

Paoletti Appointed City Attorney
Congratulations are in order! On Monday, June 27, City Council officially appointed Leigh Paoletti as the city attorney, the first female to serve in the role. Paoletti joined the City in 2018 as assistant city attorney and had been the active interim city attorney since mid-January 2022.

City Council Approves Final FY2023 Budget
Greenville City Council unanimously gave final approval to a $237 million budget that puts significant focus on traffic and safety improvements, sidewalks, sewer system upgrades and additional personnel to improve customer service. The City will also make targeted investments to support Council priorities including Neighborhoods & Affordable Housing; Economic Development; Recreation, Open Spaces & Sustainability; Mobility and Public Safety.

2022 More to Enjoy Sign ApplicationThe City of Greenville is continuing its More to Enjoy wayfinding program, which features newly-designed business directory signs at key Main Street intersections. The purpose of the program is to encourage downtown visitors to discover shops and restaurants located on side streets in the Central Business District by listing business names and providing directional arrows. The signs are designed to be eye-catching, while still incorporating seamlessly into the City’s overall downtown branding campaign.
Submit an application or apply for renewal by filling out the 2022 More to Enjoy application. Space on the signs are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. For questions or more information, please email Cameron Campbell at cjcampbell@greenvillesc.gov.
