A tenant education workshop will be held on March 7, beginning at at 9 a.m. at Long Branch Church, 28 Bolt St., Greenville. Learn how to: 

  • Avoid evictions
  • Deal with terminations and the eviction process 
  • Review rental agreements
  • Understand how landlords screen potential renters 
  • Know your rights as a tenant

United Way VITA: File Taxes for free

Tax Preparation Assistance


The 2020 tax season is here, and United Way of Greenville County is committed to helping families and individuals in our community prepare their taxes for free. VITA provides free income tax preparation assistance to individuals and families with an annual household income of less than $60,000. Appointments can be scheduled through fileforfree.org or our 2-1-1 resource line and continue through the filing deadline on April 15. 
 
United Way has also partnered with H&R Block to offer MyFreeTaxes.com. This year, for the first time, this self-prep tool is available to all taxpayers, regardless of income, to prepare and file their own simple federal and state tax returns for free online. MyFreeTaxes.com is powered by H&R Block's premium software and is easy to use, safe, mobile-friendly and 100-percent free.

Public Input Meeting for 2020-2025 Consolidated Plan   


In order to receive federal funds, the City must submit a five-year Consolidated Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. As part of the planning process, the City is hosting a public input meeting to give citizens, service providers and partner agencies an opportunity to discuss community needs and help create a unified vision for the City's community development activities over the next five years. Greenville County Financial Empowerment Centers Bring Big Savings to Residents  


Greenville County Financial Empowerment Centers provide free financial counseling at satellite offices throughout Greenville County. Counselors assist clients with budgeting, savings, paying down debt, and building up credit scores. 

2019 Accomplishments 

  • 550 clients served
  • $116,629 in savings
  • $150,547 total debt reduced
