Rusty the Rabbit

Lesson Description: This lesson was created through a collaboration between the City of Greenville and Greenville County Schools (GCS). It highlights Rusty, a corten steel rabbit sculpture by artist Dale Rogers. Rusty is located on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, in Unity Park near Downtown Greenville. This lesson falls within the GCS curriculum for Grade 4, Unit 3. In this lesson, students will learn about two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) works of art, and the placement of art in the community. 

  • Students will learn about how public art connects artists and communities. 
  • Students will create a piece of art inspired by the sculpture Rusty.
