2020 Census

With just days to go until the October 5 deadline to respond to the 2020 Census, the City is urging residents to complete their forms and encourage family, friends and neighbors to do the same. Currently, the self-response rate for the city of Greenville is only 57%. With a population of just under 70,000, that means 30,000 people won’t be counted. We can’t afford to let that happen.

Census results are used to determine the distribution of $675 billion in federal funds to states each year. If we don't make sure everyone is counted, precious resources will be stretched thin and the loss to our community over the next 10 years will be astonishing.

The results also matter because they’re used to ensure fair representation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Thanks to the 2010 Census, SC gained an additional seat in Congress.

We only get one chance every 10 years to get it right and right now, we need every city resident to help spread the word that completing the census is safe, easy and important. There isn’t a moment to waste.
