Road Closures

From time to time, the City permits the temporary closure of a street to facilitate construction and maintenance activities, or to provide a safe environment for a community event. Requests for construction-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Construction Inspection Division. Requests for event-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Special Events Division.

  2. Lane Closures - Stone Avenue Street Resurfacing

    A street resurfacing project along Stone Avenue will begin Tuesday night, Sept. 8, and continue for two months. The area between Pete Hollis and Wade Hampton boulevards will be completed first, followed by repaving at the I-385 interchange. The contractor will complete all work overnight, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. While the road will remain open at all times, motorists can expect rolling lane closures and slower traffic through the area.

  2. Lane Closures - Cleveland Street Resurfacing

    On Monday, September 21, crews will begin milling and repaving the section of Cleveland Street from East Camperdown Way to Southland Avenue. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and is expected to take a month to complete. While one lane will remain open in each direction, motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use caution when traveling in the vicinity.   2. Willard Street, from Mayberry to West Washington Street

    The closure is part of the construction of ReWa’s trunk sewer project. Although the new sewer line passes through Unity Park, it is not part of the park construction. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the closure.

  2. Swamp Rabbit Trail Detour at Unity Park

    Beginning Wednesday, October 21, a short section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail near the intersection of Mayberry Street and Willard Street (just inside the new parking lot at Delano) will be rerouted around construction activity related to ReWa’s Unity Park trunk sewer project. The temporary path around the construction zone will be approximately 200 feet long and will be made of compacted stone. This detour will be in effect through Wednesday, November 4.
